FedEx Cup play-off: Tiger Woods to play Northern Trust event in Boston

 Tiger Woods will begin his quest for a record third FedEx Cup championship after confirming he will contest next week's Northern Trust, the first of three FedEx Cup play-off events which complete the PGA Tour's 2019-20 season.

Woods is 47th in the FedEx Cup standings and is set to drop a few places following the conclusion of this week's Wyndham Championship.

The top 70 after the Northern Trust at TPC Boston qualify for the second event, the BMW Championship in Chicago, but only the top 30 after that advance to the Tour Championship in Atlanta, won last year by Rory McIlroy.

Woods - who won the FedEx Cup in 2007 and 2009 - has played just four tournaments in 2020 and finished in a tie for 37th in the US PGA Championship in San Francisco.

If he plays all three play-off events the 44-year-old will have just one week off before the rescheduled US Open at Winged Foot from September 17-20.

The 15-time major winner missed the cut when the US Open was last staged at Winged Foot in June 2006, his first event following the death of his father Earl in May.

Tesla reveals its Plaid powertrain will be available for delivery in 2021

  As part of its Battery Day presentation, Tesla CEO Elon Musk showed off video of the new “Plaid” version of its Model S sedan, a step up from its “Ludicrous” model. According to the specs on Tesla’s website, the long-awaited Plaid powertrain will have a range between charges of 520 miles, get from zero-to-60 in under two seconds, and a top speed of 200mph. The price is listed on Tesla’s website at $139,990. Musk has been teasing the Plaid for a while, and showed a video last year of a Tesla with the Plaid powertrain, noting it would “cost more than our current offerings.” (The name is apparently a reference from the Mel Brooks movie Spaceballs.)
